Want to be the belle of your July 4th BBQ? Bring these Red, White and Blue cookies! My bloggy friend Elena from Manwaring Moments shared this recipe with me years ago, and we made them soon after for a family July 4th picnic at the grandparents’ house. They were a big hit – my gourmet sister-in-law even loved them – high praise indeed! We have made them since for other patriotic celebrations here and there; we love this recipe!
A quick hint: don’t be daunted by the combo of dried cranberries, white chocolate chips and dried blueberries. Trust me. It works. Enjoy!
Red, White and Blue Cookies
1 1/2 c melted butter (real, salted butter)
2 c. brown sugar
1 c. white sugar
Cream together.
Then add:
2 eggs
2 egg yolks
1 tsp. vanilla
Mix until light and fluffy.
Add:
4 c. flour (this is a fairly soft dough, but if it seems really wet, add a little more.)
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
Mix together.
Then add:
1 package white chocolate chips
1/2 package dried blueberries (add more berries if you like)
1/2 package dried cranberries
Bake at 325 degrees for 12-14 minutes, let cool on pan before removing. (Helps keep them soft.)
I looove craisins in cookies! They are just the perfect festive touch.
You are more of a gourmet than me – I had to take a leap of faith the first time I tried this recipe! (Cranberries in cookies?!) So glad I did – so yummy!
Now I’ve got to try them, too! Perfect for this weekend. Any specific recommendations on dried blueberries?
No specific recommendation – but dried blueberries are surprisingly easy to find in your local grocery store. If you have leftovers, these are great in homemade muffins and added to granola!
Awesome! Thank you!
I get them at Costco. Good quality and better price. 😉
Thanks for the tip, Shauna! 🙂
These look amazing! I am so trying these out! Yummy and patriotic!

I think I will always associate this recipe with that fun day. Those little cousins – they aren’t so little anymore! Thanks for your kind comment. Glad you’re here!
Making these today to enjoy with my family tomorrow for the 4th! Yummy!!!
We’ll be thinking of you-all when we chow down on our cookies here! 🙂 Have a happy and safe holiday!
