This is our Christmas morning breakfast, thanks to The Great Monkey Bread Mutiny:
Once upon a time, there was a girl that grew up with a Christmas morning tradition of getting up, getting dressed, and then eating a huge breakfast before opening presents. This girl loved traditions, so when she grew up and had a house of her own, she did the same thing with her little family. As the years went by, the little family became grumpier and grumpier about Christmas morning – until one year when the little family mutinied like a bunch of pirates and took over Christmas morning breakfast. The yummiest but SIMPLEST breakfast recipe was decreed as the new Christmas morning breakfast! The old tradition was defeated… and the girl joined the mutineers and found she liked this new tradition much better! And they lived happily every after. The End.
(Mutiny) Monkey Bread
3 cans of cheap biscuits
1 stick butter
1 cup sugar
1 Tablespoon cinnamon
Spray a Bundt pan with cooking spray. Open the biscuit cans, and quarter the biscuits. Put cinnamon and sugar into a Ziploc bag and shake to mix. Add the quartered biscuits into the bag – a few at a time – and shake in the cinnamon-sugar mixture until coated. Layer the cinnamon-sugared biscuit pieces in the pan. Melt the butter. Add the leftover cinnamon-sugar to the melted butter, stir together and then pour over the biscuits. Bake at 350° F for 25 minutes. Do not underbake.
Recipe notes:
This is probably the simplest monkey bread recipe out there, but *it works*. Don’t try and add fancy and froo-froo to this recipe. Just follow it to the letter and enjoy.
